Me, myself, and my passion - Jan Malte Gollan

Working out changed my life. The gym made me who I am today. Starting to work on myself was the best decision I´ve ever made. All those stories about people who found a passion within this sport sound the same. Do you know why? Because it´s the truth.

I´m now 21 years old and joined a gym round about 5 ½ years ago. I was always a person who loved to be active. I was (or probably still am) the type of guy whom you can give a simple ball and I´m happy for the next few hours. Although I played football for 15 years and was very sporty in general, I was never happy with myself and especially not with my body. That didn´t just affect the fact that I wasn´t willing to take my shirt off at the beach, but it also influenced my confidence. Therefore, I started to work out to lose some weight, and let me tell you something, once you see some results, it becomes addicting. The fact that if you put in the work and stay consistent, you´re actually going to see some change is incredible. After a few years of going to the gym and moving to the Netherlands, I decided to quit playing football and start taking “bodybuilding” more seriously. I changed my diet, learned more about human anatomy, workout techniques, nutrition, and more. Since the last 2 years, my hobby developed into a lifestyle that accompanies me day after day. By going to the gym 6 times a week and focusing on my nutrition daily, I am not the small chubby guy anymore. But this is, by far, not the most important point. I´m happy with myself, I got more confidence and I´m living a healthier life than before. So, to sum up my journey, I definitely agree with the mentioned in the beginning. Making the first step into a gym did change my life. It changed me physically, mentally, and made me the person I am today. If you think about starting to make working out a bigger part of your life … Do it. It´s worth it.
